"My son was diagnosed with ASD at the age of four. Three years on he was experiencing particular communication difficulties stemming from the presumption that because he could speak ok, he understood what was said to him. In fact he didn’t. This was picked up during an independent SaLT assessment at the age of seven. He had fallen way behind at school and was unable to keep up either academically or socially. The assessment prompted weekly therapy sessions with Cathy for 16 months and the results were nothing short of transformative. My son is now communicating 100 times better than before he worked with Cathy. She built a brilliant relationship with my son and her weekly sessions massively increased his understanding of language by giving him the building blocks and then the confidence to use them. She worked on prepositions, conversation, categorisation, tenses, inference, turn-taking etc, but crucially made the sessions so fun it was nothing like work. She also gave us games and exercises to practise at home. Speech therapy became a critical, but enjoyable part of our weekly routine. Although my son no longer works with Cathy due to her recent marriage and move away from London, her work was a watershed moment in my son’s development and for that we will always be very grateful". "We had been concerned about our three year old's speech for a while and had contacted the NHS therapy team and been told to come back when he was a bit older. I am so pleased we got in touch with Cathy to ask for an assessment. She visited our son at home where he felt comfortable. She was positive and fun as well as being incredibly thorough. At the end of the session Cathy was able to tell me the areas we needed to work on. We were really pleased with the report we received - it was well balanced, accurate and detailed. Our son has been seeing Cathy for a few months, he loves his sessions with her and really looks forward to them. Cathy was able to correct many of his sounds in a few weeks, and he is now self-correcting when he makes a mistake, so is making even faster progress. But by far the best development has been how his confidence has just blossomed in the time he has been seeing Cathy. He has gone from a quiet boy who was afraid to speak in case he wasn’t understood, to a little chatterbox who has so many ideas and thoughts to share, and now has the confidence to speak to the world. "Cathy started seeing my son when he was just over 3 years old as he started talking much later than his peers. His speech delay made it very difficult to be understood by his teachers and this affected my poor boy's confidence.
